We share our top tips when choosing Valdamark Heat Sealer Machines | Valdamark
Inside information about the industrial, medical and safety supplies packaging industries.
Heat Sealer Machines are used for closing two sides of of flexible packaging film together. This forms a air tight, ‘hermetic’ seal around the enclosure.
Heat Sealers weld the the two materials together by essentially melting them at a appropriate temperature. This forms the seal.
You need to be careful when selecting the best heat sealer as you need to be aware of both what packaging materials can be used with it as well as the thickness of the packaging film itself.
Most materials that can be sealed with a heat sealer are of the kind that can be measured in millimetres (or microns).
Most that are 1 – 3mm thick can be considered standard whilst those 4-8 mils thick can be considered medium or heavy gauge.
The thicker materials require more heat to seal properly as well as larger sealing welds.
Usually clients will need to choose between two types of heat sealer. Either portable or table top.
Portable sealers allow you to manoeuvre around large or awkwardly sized items. Perfect for the sealing of transport and storage packing. This is an example of heavy duty heat sealer that is portable as well.
These sealers can often operate at higher temperatures making them ideal for mid to high volume sealing of thicker materials.
Table top heat sealers are great for production lines and packing stations as they remain stationary allowing you to replicate the seal easily at volume. They also often feature cutters allowing to cut the packaging to size and seal it in one action.
The table top variety tend not to operate at very high temperatures (although there are exceptions) and so are ideal for thinner gauge materials like PE and PET.
