Wine Retailer Chooses Paper Bottle Solution for UK Launch
The English Vine UK Wine Retailer is an online wine shop that strives to make finding and enjoying a good glass of wine accessible to any.
In addition to carrying a variety of high-quality wines, they have taken their commitment to sustainable packaging even further by using Paper Bottle eco-packaging as the packaging for their wines.
The Launch of their Paper-Based Bottle Range
The English Vine was the first retailer to launch a paper-based bottled wine range.
A paper Bottle provides increased convenience, cooler temperatures, and no added weight to shipping at all while using 70% less plastic than traditional packaging. With Paper Bottle technology, The English Vine UK Wine Retailer offers a truly innovative wine shopping experience.
Using the Frugal Bottle from Ipswich-based Frugalpac the solution is an impressive five times lighter than a glass bottle alternative with an 84% reduced carbon footprint. The paper bottle also contains a food-grade, recyclable foil barrier pouch that keeps the wine optimally fresh, sealed, and secure during transport or storage.
Plans for Paper Bottle Packaging
English Vine has set itself the challenge of selling all its wines in non-glass bottles by the year 2026. To achieve this would be quite an accomplishment given paper bottles currently form less than 0.5% of the overall market.
A recent survey conducted by Survation found that out of 1700 wine drinkers surveyed over 63% said they would be happy to buy and drink wine delivered in a paper bottle.
English Vine Founder Neil Walker thinks packaging is a good place to start in making wine an eco-friendlier endeavour. He said,” As winemakers, we have a responsibility to make the right steps towards more environmentally friendly methods of winemaking”.
It is interesting to note that glass bottling is a compulsory requirement in some areas of winemaking but in others which form most of the market, there is no reason not to change to a paper bottle alternative.
Wine Packaging Preconceptions
Paper bottles have been perceived as somewhat of a novelty in the wine industry, as some question whether it is feasible to package fine wines with eco-friendly alternatives. However, paper bottles are becoming increasingly popular because they offer many advantages over traditional glass options.
Paper bottles are light, durable, and renewable; all qualities that the wine industry is beginning to take advantage of. Furthermore, Paper bottles can be fully recyclable and require less energy to manufacture than traditional glass bottles, making them an environmentally responsible option for packaging.
Some consumers view non-glass products as of inferior or reduced quality compared to glass bottles. There is however some truth to this perception as in the past inferior wines were often packaged in such a way.
Paper bottle technology has much to offer the wine industry and it could become a major part of our green future.
The new wines from English Vine seek to be of high quality whilst being packaged in a more environmentally friendly way. The company is rolling out a bottomless wine service this summer in Essex which will be delivered via their electric wine van.
Why Use Paper Packaging instead of Glass
Packaging is an important consideration for companies wishing to convey their products to consumers. Using paper packaging instead of glass has numerous benefits and should be considered due to its convenience, lightweight materials, and cost-effectiveness.
Paper packaging is much easier to transport than glass due to its low weight, reducing the costs associated with shipping and handling. It also provides the ability to personalise your product packaging, offering customers a unique experience and standing out on the shelves amongst the competition.
Additionally, paper packaging has better insulating properties than glass, meaning it is suitable for temperature-sensitive products.
Paper packaging can be reused or recycled in an environmentally friendly way, helping protect our planet and conserve valuable resources. The environment benefits massively from recycling efforts and the increasing availability of sustainable packaging options will make the world a better place for the next generation.
All these reasons make using paper as a packing material a smart move for businesses that are looking for an efficient and effective way to present their products in the best cleanest way!
