Pregis set to Charge Protective Packaging Equipment Fees from July

Alex Todd

Pregis LLC, a leading name in protective packaging solutions in North America, is set to start charging equipment fees.

Fees

Starting from July, the company’s new placements of sheeters, paper machines and inflatable systems will be charged with monthly usage fees.

When Pregis’ field technicians execute post-installation modifications, they too will bill hourly service charges.

Usually, customers pay for the consumable materials to run the packaging systems. However, they don’t pay for the equipment installed in their facility.

The move of Pregis to charge usage fees is aimed to support the development of next-generation protective packaging systems. At the same time, it will also help recover a small part of the service and equipment costs.

The company has announced that it will continue to offer preventative, routine maintenance free of charge.

Pregis Development – What This Means for Customers of Protective Packaging Equipment
Customers not used to paying for equipment may show aversion to this move of Pregis. However, Sean Condon – the company’s Executive Vice President, emphasised that it was a necessary move.

For years’, Pregis has made significant investments in service platforms and R&D to make sure its protective packaging equipment offer quality solutions to the industry’s.

This is why it’s a leading name in offering solutions for several consumer and industrial market segments.

These include beverage, food, medical devices, healthcare, agricultural, e-commerce, automotive, retail, electronics, furniture, military/aerospace and construction.

To continue its level of innovation, Condon said that it became essential to assign cost to the equipment placed in a customer’s facility. That’s why the decision to charge equipment fees was taken.

Due to increased online ordering and remarkable growth in parcel shipping, speed-to-market and protection have become two key factors for any business.

This means that productivity and performance are driving packaging decisions a lot more than ever before.

Pregis’ objective is to continue to develop cost-effective systems that add value to its customers’ operating efficiency.

Its move to charge fees for new placements of protective packaging equipment and services is a step towards this goal.

Pregis and Henkel Join Forces
In today’s rapidly changing marketplace, brands are under pressure to meet the ever-growing demand for sustainable packaging solutions. Pregis has partnered with Henkel to continue the development of protective packaging solutions.

The recently rebranded Pregis EverTec™ paper cushioned mailer is manufactured with EPIX® technology from Henkel Adhesive Technologies. This paper mailer is recyclable and weighs less than traditional shipping packaging. The two companies have come up with this solution to address the growing demand for lightweight e-Commerce packaging.

Pregis Commitment
As the global population continues to grow, so does the demand for paper products. To meet this demand, Pregis and Henkel have partnered to develop EPIX, a technology that enhances paper product functionality while maintaining sustainability. Pregis and Henkel manufacture EverTec mailers using EPIX.

With the new technology, they have created a durable but lightweight package. At the same time, material waste has decreased due to its recyclability. Businesses can reduce their reliance on corrugated boxes. They can also improve efficiency in distribution. These goals are possible through the opening of several manufacturing sites in 2021.

Both Pregis and Henkel share a dedication to sustainability. Their operational philosophies and approach to product creation reflect this dedication. They prove their dedication by signing the Climate Pledge. This pledge aims to achieve zero carbon emissions annually by 2040. In addition to their work with EPIX, both companies have committed to investing in other sustainable technologies and processes that will help them achieve their climate goals. As the world looks for ways to become more sustainable, Pregis and Henkel will continue to lead the way.

Circular Economy
As the world becomes increasingly focused on sustainability, both Pregis and Henkel have made it a priority to deliver packaging that meets the requirements for circularity. With their partnership, they can use each other’s expertise to accelerate their commitments to sustainability. At the same time, they

In particular, Pregis’ experience in developing innovative protective packaging solutions and Henkel’s technical expertise in adhesives and sealants will be invaluable in creating market-driven packaging that meets the highest standards for sustainability. Jointly, the companies aspire to set a new standard for sustainable packaging solutions that businesses can adopt.

In our increasingly environmentally conscious world, consumers buy products based on a brand’s sustainability profile. EverTec is at the forefront of sustainable e-commerce packaging, with mailers made from 100% recycled content.

Pregis and Henkel are committed to helping customers reduce their environmental impact. These mailers are a great way to send a strong message about a brand’s commitment to sustainability. Not only will customers appreciate the environmentally friendly packaging, but they will also repeat purchases from a brand.

So if you’re looking for a way to differentiate your brand in the marketplace and send a strong message about your environmental position, EverTec mailers are the perfect solution.
