International Paper’s Lightweight Carton Board Receives the European Medal
Carton board Alaska Plus Board – an innovative and lightweight carton board, has received Poland’s European Medal.
International Paper’s Alaska Plus is a novel, significantly lighter GC2 board. It has been produced at the company’s Poland-based mill in Kwidzyn.
The European Medal is an initiative of the Business Centre Club in Poland. This award is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the Brussels-based European Economic and Social Committee’s Honorary Patronage.
Since 2000, the European Medal has been encouraging businesses in the European Union to invest in Poland. At the same time, the award has also been effective in igniting consumers’ interest in products of the recognised companies.
International Paper is a leading name across the globe in packaging and paper. It has manufacturing operations in Europe, North America, Russia, Latin America, North Africa and Asia. Its businesses include consumer and industrial packaging together with uncoated papers and pulp.
With its headquarter in Tennessee’s Memphis, the company employs about 58,000 people. International Paper is strategically located in over 24 countries serving global customers.
In 2014, the company’s net sales stood at $24 billion.
International Paper’s Carton Board Does Justice to its Predecessors
In the past, International Paper’s products like Alaska GC2 board and Arktika GC1 board had bagged the European Medal. On June 10 in Warsaw, during the European Medal gala, Marek Krzykowski made some interesting comments.
The General Director of International Paper’s mill in Kwidzyn said that Alaska Plus carton board represents a completely new generation of the company’s GC2 board. He said winning the European Medal was an honour, especially after the product completed just a year since its launch in the market.
He added how using the latest technology in board making has enabled the company to develop a lightweight product without compromising its consistent quality and outstanding product performance.
Alaska Plus Board was specifically recognised for facilitating significant reduction in the weight of packaging. Some other advantages too are associated with this comparatively lightweight carton board.
These are very environment-friendly as they use fewer resources, have reduced transport weight and facilitate an overall decrease in the production of waste materials.
Alaska Plus Board can be used in healthcare, pharmaceutical, chocolate and even in all types of dry food applications. To know more about such news, keep visiting the valdamark site.
