Cortec® Corporation’s commitment to producing environmentally friendly products is baked into the brands identity.

Green Packaging

The world renowned VpCI packaging technology displays impressive environmental credentials.

In line with that, Cortec® Corporation has three primary USDA-certified bio-based packaging papers that are outstanding.

Check them out:

  • CorShield® VpCI®-146 – 100% recycled paper with 92% bio-based content.
  • VpCI®-146 creped paper.
  • EcoShield® VpCI®-144 – corrosion protection with moisture prevention.

These products are primarily used for corrosion protection. These products are easily recyclable compared to plastic packaging products. Recyclability enhances the “circular economy” participation for end users as these products are renewable through recycling.

The U.S. government also supports environmental recyclability through the USDA BioPreferred® Program. This program requires federal agencies and contractors to purchase products that meet the minimum biobased content under the federal purchasing initiative.

These bio-based VCI papers are ideal for corrosion protection for ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Cortecs VCI papers do not contain heavy metals, e.g., nitrites, chromates, etc.

How Cortec® Corporation Green Packaging VpCI® Papers Work
As you’ve read earlier in this article, VpCI® papers are ideal for multi-metal corrosion protection. These products protect metal parts from corrosion by activating, diffusing, and condensing an invisible molecular layer of protection on metal components.

This layer does not need to be cleaned before using the metal parts. Therefore, these papers are beneficial as they do away with the hassle that comes with traditional corrosion protection methods.

Cortec® Corporation VpCI® Papers Features
CorShield® VpCI®-146 paper eliminates guesswork as both sides of the paper are corrosion protection-enabled. Cortec® Corporation manufactures this VCI product in different sizes to cater to metal components with unique shapes and of different sizes.

The VpCI®-146 creped paper has the same features as the CorShield VpCI-146 anti corrosion paper. The only difference is that the VpCI®-146 is in a creped shape which offers cushioning for delicate metal precision parts.

Finally, the EcoShield VpCI-144 paper offers corrosion protection, just like the former two papers. It additionally has a moisture barrier to protect metal parts from corroding under humid conditions. The EcoShield® VpCI®-144 is the ideal alternative to plastic and wax-coated packaging bags.

Therefore, you can use the EcoShield® VpCI®-144 paper in applications that require an effective moisture barrier without needing the corrosion protection part.

How Effective are Cortec’s VpCI® Products?
Cortec’s VpCI® products are highly effective with regard to corrosion protection. They are used in various industries, e.g., automotive, to protect auto parts from corrosion and harsh storage or transit conditions.

Since these papers do not contain heavy metals, they are versatile. You can use them to cover individual metal parts or as metal components separators which is essential in preventing dissimilar metal corrosion.

In addition, this metal component separator VpCI® paper is an effective and efficient damage control product.

A perfect example is when you have to store or transport auto parts that contain aggressive oils or grease. The oils/grease might leak and spread to other components – causing a messy outcome.

Making Sense of Green Packaging and VpCI Papers
Cortec® Corporation VpCI® products are practical and efficient with regard to corrosion protection.

The three outstanding products (Corshield® VpCI®-146 paper, VpCI®-146 creped paper, and EcoShield VpCI®-144) each have an additional benefit apart from corrosion protection.

The CorShield® VpCI®-146 paper eliminates guesswork as both sides are corrosion protection enabled. The creped version of this paper also offers corrosion protection on both sides, plus an added cushioning feature for delicate metal components.

Finally, the EcoShield® VpCI®-144 paper is an effective moisture barrier.

All these products are eco-friendly as they are USDA-certified products. You can learn more about them by reaching out to us.
