Cortec VpCI® 645 stands out as a distinctive, potent formulation aimed at safeguarding both ferrous and non-ferrous metals against corrosive solutions infused with chlorides.

Engineered to deliver robust corrosion protection, it proves effective in fresh water, salt water, brine, and other aggressive solutions containing halogens.

Thanks to its concentrated nature, VpCI®-645 boasts remarkable efficacy at minimal dosages, making it an ideal choice for a broad spectrum of marine and industrial applications where cost-effective corrosion inhibition in both fresh and salt water is essential.

Moreover, VpCI®-645 carries USDA certification as a biobased rust preventative, presenting itself as a sustainable alternative to nitrite- and chromate-based formulas, as well as hydrazine-based oxygen scavengers. Its environmentally friendly attributes alleviate disposal concerns, particularly pertinent for managing large volumes of water.

Features of Cortec VpCI® 645

Offers robust corrosion protection against high chloride solutions.

  • Effective across diverse applications, halting corrosion from fresh and salt water, brine, chloride, and other dissolved halogens.
  • Environmentally conscious, free from nitrites and amines.
  • Economical treatment due to low concentration effectiveness.
  • Protects multiple metal types.
  • Easily applicable as a water-soluble liquid, unaffected by pH range or salt concentration levels.

Typical Application

  • Closed-loop cooling and heating systems with brine or water.
  • Desalination facilities.
  • Inhibitor for packer fluid applications.
  • Guards against water-bottom corrosion in oil storage tanks and ballast tanks on ships and offshore platforms.
  • Wet lay-up procedures for boilers, pipelines, vessels, and more.
  • Protection for pulp and paper processing equipment.

Methods of application

To achieve corrosion inhibiting levels exceeding 95%, incorporate VpCI® -645 into the following:

  • Cooling/Heating Systems:
    • Add 0.5-0.75% by volume if the chloride concentration reaches 3% or higher by weight.
  • Hydrostatic Testing of Pipelines, Castings, Tanks, and Valves:
    • Utilise 0.75-0.075% by volume, adjusting as needed based on the required duration of protection or other action.

Hydotesting

  • Use 0.5-1% by volume of VpCI®-645 in brine.
  • After hydrotesting, it's advisable to rinse the vessel with fresh water containing 0.5% VpCI®-609 by weight.

Packaging & Storage

VpCI®-645 packaging options are drums, pails, liquid totes and buk containers. Sizes vary from 5 gallons/ 19 liters to 55 gallons /208 liters. Store VpCI-645 sealed. It can last up to 12 months in storage without any change in performance.
