Ampac Bags Two Alufoil and Three AmeriStar Awards for its Creative Packaging

Ampac the world leader in creative packaging has created a new dimension to the world of packaging with the introduction of some of the best consumer-friendly, safe packaging concepts on numerous products.

The company’s innovations in technology and enhancements in customer usability for its products have led to it being awarded two Alufoil, and three Ameristar awards this year.

The Alufoil Awards for Creative Packaging

The awards celebrate the creativity and excellence in the use of aluminium foil for packaging. Every year, the awards recognise the most innovative and inspiring examples of aluminium foil packaging from all over the world. The Alufoil Trophy is sponsored by the European Aluminium Foil Association.

The awards are given to companies that make products from Alufoil packaging or ones that have products containing the material as part of its structure laminate, or packaging system.

The judging process of the awards is rigorous, with only the very best entries being awarded an Alufoil Trophy.

This year only the entries of twelve brands were selected for Alufoil Trophies from six different categories. One of the winners was Ampac who got its first trophy for its marinade pouch in the Consumer Convenience Category.

Ampac’s marinade food packaging, the JANS Bio Marinade product, is more convenient for consumers than the most common types of similar products because the meat can be marinated within the pouch, which means there is no need to have a bowl or plate.

The second award for packaging design was for its drink pouches that won in the Marketing and Design category. The company’s pouch displayed an alternative packaging design when compared to the conventional straw beverage pouch, with the product “Punch Through” not only being a unique shape, but also a mix of technology that enhances customer convenience.

The Ameristar Awards
The Ameristar Awards are the top awards given for creative packaging. The event is sponsored by International Paper Company and recognises companies and individuals who demonstrate superior packaging design and innovation.

The awards are judged by a panel of experts in the fields of packaging design, engineering, and sustainability. Previous winners of these awards include brands such as PepsiCo, Nestle, and Coca-Cola.

At the most recent Ameristar Awards, Ampac won in three categories. Their E-Z SnackPak a creative packaging format for the single-serve snack food market won in the Shelf Stable Food category.

The interesting aspect of this food packaging is that once it is opened the tetrahedron-shaped pouch is transformed into a serving tray. E-Z SnackPak is an ideal example of the dual functionality in product packaging, where one aspect is its innovative packaging whilst the other is its transformation into a serving tray.

The company also won an award in the Pickles in the Refrigerated Food category was picked up by the Oh Snap product. Unique to the packaging industry and shaped like an hourglass, the unique packaging design makes it easy to grip for customers. In addition to being unique in design, customers can view the product inside the packaging due to the transparent body.

The third award was given to the business Microdermis Corporation’s package which was awarded in the Drug and Pharmaceutical category. The design included a seven-layer, hard-to-hold package design. The pharmaceutical packaging product is highly chemically resistant and has a high barrier laminate with integrated directional tear properties that meets Microdermis’s vision for a flexible and portable single-dose packaging format for Provodine. The design facilitates the easy opening of the package and dispensing of the product within.

The business produces a huge range of packaging products and services, from graphic design and production to logistics and warehousing. Ampac is also well known for its innovative packaging solutions which have won it many awards. The company is constantly creating different types of packaging products including pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical packaging, drug packaging, secondary packaging, food products made of various materials, and branding ideas.

Some of the company’s clients include Nestle, PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, and Procter & Gamble.

The recent Ampac merger with Prolamina is also noteworthy.

This type of packaging is about making a product’s packaging stand out from the competition and make a lasting impression on consumers. Creative packaging can be used on many product types, from foods, drugs, carrier bags, bottles, glass, boxes, plastic, and more.

The most important part of being creative with packaging is that the product conveys the overall style of the brand and the product that it holds. For example, if a brand is selling a luxury product it would be wise to include luxurious features in the packaging including embossing or foiling so to make the product appear special and more exclusive.
