Silver Saver anti-tarnish paper is a specially formulated 40 lb/ream (65 g/m²) bleached kraft paper designed to prevent silver and palladium from tarnishing.
It works by absorbing hydrogen sulfide and other sulfurous gases in the packaging environment, ensuring that parts remain clean, dry, and ready for immediate use without leaving any residue on metal surfaces. This paper will not affect solder, conductivity, or surface resistivity.
Silver Saver paper is a sulfur-free formulation, with only trace amounts (less than 1 ppm) of reducible sulfur in the bleached kraft paper, well below the 8 ppm considered non-tarnishing. It is non-toxic, safe, and easy to use, requiring no special handling, and is also RoHS2 compliant. This anti-tarnish paper is available in various forms, including rolls, sheets, bags, and custom sizes, with no shipping restrictions.
Typical applications for Silver Saver include protecting silver surfaces during storage and shipment. It is commonly used in electronics, aerospace, automotive, and precision parts manufacturing, as well as for jewelry, musical instruments, and antiques. Specific applications include sensors, electrical components, automotive assemblies, wire, computer sub-assemblies and components, jewelry, chain and precious metals, musical instruments, silver antiques, and flatware. To use, clean, dry parts should be enclosed in the paper, with the paper positioned within 12 inches (200-300mm) of the metal.

Frequently Asked Questions
• What exactly is Silver Saver® Anti-Tarnish Paper?
Silver Saver® Anti-Tarnish Paper is a specialized, bleached kraft paper with a proprietary chemical coating designed to prevent silver and palladium from tarnishing. It weighs 40 lb/ream (65 g/m²).
• How does Silver Saver® paper prevent tarnishing?
The unique chemistry of Silver Saver® paper works by absorbing hydrogen sulfide and other sulfurous gases directly from the packaging environment, ensuring that when items are unwrapped, they are clean and tarnish-free.
• Does Silver Saver® paper leave any residue on items it protects?
No, Silver Saver® paper is specifically formulated to protect silver and palladium without leaving any residue on the metal surfaces. This means your items remain clean, dry, and ready to use immediately after unwrapping.
• Is the Silver Saver® paper formulation sulfur-free?
Yes, the formulation itself is sulfur-free. While the bleached kraft paper does contain a trace amount of reducible sulfur (less than 1 ppm), this is well below the 8 ppm considered non-tarnishing.
• What types of metals does Silver Saver® specifically protect?
Silver Saver® paper is designed to protect both silver and palladium metals.
Relevant products you may want to consider:
• Are there different forms or sizes of Silver Saver® paper available?
Absolutely! Silver Saver® anti-tarnish paper can be purchased in various forms, including rolls, sheets, bags, and even custom sizes to fit your specific needs.
• What is the difference between "Silver Saver" and "Silver Saver 60"?
The main difference lies in their basis weight and construction. "Silver Saver" has a basis weight of 40 lb/ream (65 g/m²) and is made from bleached kraft that is printed, whereas "Silver Saver 60" has a heavier basis weight of 54 lb/ream (88 g/m²) and uses unprinted bleached kraft. Both are designed to absorb sulfurous gases and protect silver.
• How do I properly use Silver Saver® paper to protect my items?
To use Silver Saver® paper, simply enclose your clean, dry parts within it. For optimal protection, position the paper within 12 inches (200-300mm) of the metal.
• Do I need to do anything to my items after they've been protected by Silver Saver® paper?
No further processing is necessary before using your items once they've been unwrapped from Silver Saver® paper; they will be clean and tarnish-free.
• How long can Silver Saver® paper protect items in dry storage?
When stored inside a dry environment, Silver Saver® paper can provide protection for at least 24 months.
Relevant products you may want to consider:
• Can Silver Saver® paper be used for shipping items?
Yes, Silver Saver® is ideal for protecting silver surfaces during both storage and shipment, and there are no shipping restrictions for the product itself.
• Is Silver Saver® Anti-Tarnish Paper safe to use?
Yes, Silver Saver® is non-toxic, safe, and easy to use, requiring no special handling.
• Is this product compliant with environmental regulations?
Yes, Silver Saver® Anti-Tarnish Paper is RoHS2 compliant.
• Does Silver Saver® paper affect the electrical properties of components?
No, Silver Saver® paper will not affect solder, conductivity, or surface resistivity of electronic components.
• Is Silver Saver® compatible with nickel and nickel-plated steel?
Yes, Silver Saver® paper is compatible with both nickel and nickel-plated steel.
Relevant products you may want to consider:
• What about tin and gold? Is Silver Saver® safe to use with them?
Silver Saver® is also compatible with both tin and gold.
• Can I use Silver Saver® with aluminum, zinc, copper, brass, or bronze?
Silver Saver® is not recommended for aluminum, zinc, zinc galvanized steel, copper, brass, or bronze. However, "not recommended" does not mean incompatibility; it simply suggests that other Daubert Cromwell products might be more effective for these applications, and compatibility testing is always advised.
• What about mild carbon steel? Will Silver Saver® protect it?
Silver Saver® may protect mild carbon steel, but it's recommended to test for compatibility to ensure optimal results.
• What are "Category A" metals and how does Silver Saver® interact with them?
