• What exactly is Cortec EcoStretch powered by Nano VpCI, and how is it different from regular stretch film?
Cortec EcoStretch powered by Nano VpCI is a revolutionary machine-grade stretch wrap film that stands out because it combines commercially compostable resins with advanced Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor (VpCI) Technology. This means it not only offers the familiar benefits of stretch film for securing items but also actively protects metals from rust and corrosion, all while being a more environmentally friendly option compared to traditional plastic packaging.
• What does "Nano VpCI" refer to in the product name?
"Nano VpCI" in the product name signifies that the film incorporates Cortec's cutting-edge Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor technology at a nanoscale. This allows the protective molecules to volatilize from the film and form an invisible, self-replenishing protective layer on all exposed metal surfaces within the wrapped package, even in hard-to-reach areas.
• Is Cortec EcoStretch considered an environmentally friendly packaging solution?
Absolutely, Cortec EcoStretch is designed with environmental responsibility in mind. It's commercially compostable, meeting the ASTM D6400 standard for commercial composting, which can help businesses avoid certain tariffs, fines, and tip fees in regions with strict plastic regulations. This makes it a great choice for companies looking to reduce their conventional plastic waste and improve their environmental footprint.
• How does this stretch film contribute to reducing plastic waste?
By being commercially compostable, Cortec EcoStretch offers a viable alternative to traditional polyethylene stretch films. After use, it can be sent to a commercial composting facility where it breaks down into a soil amendment, effectively diverting plastic from landfills and contributing to a circular economy.
• What is the shelf life of Cortec EcoStretch, and how should it be stored for optimal performance?
Cortec EcoStretch has a shelf life of two years. To ensure it performs at its best, it should be stored in its original packaging, indoors, and away from direct sunlight, ideally within a temperature range of 40-100 °F (4-38 °C).
Relevant products you may want to consider:
• Is this product "shelf and curb stable"? What does that mean for users?
Yes, Cortec EcoStretch is indeed shelf and curb stable. This means it will maintain its integrity during storage and use until it is properly disposed of at a commercial composting facility, assuring users that the film won't degrade prematurely.
• How does Cortec EcoStretch prevent rust and corrosion on metal items?
Cortec EcoStretch utilizes patented Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor (VpCI) technology. When metals are wrapped, the VpCI molecules within the film vaporize and create a protective atmosphere around the items. These molecules then condense on all exposed metal surfaces, forming a monomolecular layer that acts as a barrier, preventing oxygen, moisture, and other corrosive elements from reaching and reacting with the metal.
• Can Cortec EcoStretch protect various types of metals, or is it limited to specific ones?
This film is designed to provide multi-metal corrosion inhibition. It's effective for a wide range of metals, including aluminum, galvanized steel, carbon steel, silicon steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, and cast iron, offering versatile protection for diverse metal components.
• Does the VpCI layer need to be removed from metal parts after unwrapping?
No, one of the key benefits of Cortec EcoStretch is that the VpCI protective layer is invisible and does not need to be removed. Once the metal part is unwrapped, the VpCI molecules simply evaporate from the surface, leaving the component immediately ready for use without any additional cleaning or degreasing.
• How long does the corrosion protection last with Cortec EcoStretch?
