Frequently Asked Questions
• What exactly is Cortec EcoShield® Heat Sealable Paper and why is it so useful?
Cortec EcoShield® Heat Sealable Paper is a special kind of packaging material that's coated with a water-based adhesive, designed to be heat-sealed for strong, permanent bonds. It's incredibly useful because it allows businesses to create custom-sized bags, envelopes, and pouches on demand, providing a flexible and environmentally responsible alternative to traditional packaging.
• How does the "heat-sealable" feature actually work on this paper?
The magic happens when the coated sides of the EcoShield® Heat Sealable Paper are brought together and heat is applied. The water-based adhesive coating melts and then forms a bond that is actually stronger than the paper itself, creating a secure and reliable seal for your packaged items.
• Is this paper considered a sustainable or eco-friendly packaging option?
Absolutely! Cortec EcoShield® Heat Sealable Paper is designed with the environment in mind. It's fully repulpable, meaning it can be reprocessed back into other paper products, and it's readily recyclable through standard channels, which is a significant advantage over many plastic or wax-coated alternatives.
• Can Cortec EcoShield® Heat Sealable Paper be printed on for branding or product information?
Yes, it certainly can! This paper is printable, allowing businesses to add their company logos, product identification, or any other necessary details directly onto the packaging for a professional and customized look.
• What makes the bond formed by heat-sealing this paper so strong?
The strength of the bond comes from the unique water-based heat-sealable adhesive coating. When heated, this adhesive creates a robust and permanent seal, ensuring the integrity of the package is maintained and that the bond is more durable than the paper material itself.
Relevant products you may want to consider:
• What are the typical roll sizes available for Cortec EcoShield® Heat Sealable Paper?
Cortec EcoShield® Heat Sealable Paper is commonly available in stock rolls that are 600 feet (182.88 meters) long and come in widths of either 36 inches or 48 inches (approximately 1 to 1.22 meters). • Are there any unique or unusual applications where this paper excels?
Interestingly, yes! EcoShield® Heat Sealable Paper can even be used in situations where the entire package needs to disintegrate into a larger mixture, such as certain concrete mixing scenarios, releasing its contents as the paper naturally breaks down.
• Can I use this paper to replace plastic bags for packaging various items?
Definitely! If you're looking to reduce plastic waste, EcoShield® Heat Sealable Paper provides a fantastic recyclable alternative to single-use plastic bags for a wide array of items, from soap mockups to various consumer and industrial goods.
Relevant products you may want to consider:
• What kind of equipment is typically needed to heat-seal this paper effectively?
To achieve a proper seal, you'll generally need heat-sealing equipment. The recommended temperature for sealing is at least 250°F (120°C), though the specific seal time can vary depending on the type and capabilities of your sealing machine.
• What's the basic process for using EcoShield® Heat Sealable Paper to create a bag?
It's quite straightforward: first, cut the paper to your desired size. Then, fold and shape it into your chosen form, such as an envelope, sleeve, or bag. Finally, apply heat to the coated sides where you want to create a seal.
• What temperature should I set my heat-sealing equipment to for optimal results?
For the best results, it's recommended to set your heat-sealing equipment to a temperature of 250°F (120°C) or higher. Keep in mind that the exact seal time might need adjustment based on your specific sealing equipment.
• Are there any specific guidelines for how the coated sides should be placed together before sealing?
Yes, for a strong and effective bond, always ensure that the coated sides of the EcoShield® Heat Sealable Paper are placed facing each other when applying heat. This allows the adhesive to properly activate and form the permanent seal.
