Frequently Asked Questions
• What makes Cortec EcoAir products stand out?
Cortec EcoAir products stand out because they use compressed air as a propellant instead of traditional, often hazardous, chemical propellants. This innovative "bag-on-valve" technology means the product inside isn't mixed with any propellants, offering a cleaner, safer, and more environmentally friendly experience compared to conventional aerosols.
• How does the EcoAir technology actually work to dispense the product without propellants?
It's quite clever! Inside each EcoAir can, there's a four-layer "EcoPouch" that holds the liquid product. The can itself is pressurized with compressed air, and when you press the valve, the surrounding air pressure squeezes the pouch, expelling the liquid until the product is completely used up. This ingenious design keeps the product pure and allows for spraying in any direction, even upside down.
• Are Cortec EcoAir products safe for the environment, given their unique propellant system?
Absolutely! Environmental safety is a core principle behind EcoAir. These products are formulated without CFCs or HCFCs, which are known to harm the ozone layer. Plus, many of the ingredients are biodegradable and non-polluting, making them a much greener choice than many traditional chemical-based alternatives.
• Can I truly spray Cortec EcoAir in any direction, even completely upside down, without losing pressure?
Yes, that's one of the fantastic benefits of the EcoAir system! Because the product is contained within an internal pouch and pushed out by compressed air, the spray mechanism works flawlessly regardless of the can's orientation, which is incredibly convenient for reaching awkward spots.
• What's the general shelf life of Cortec EcoAir products once I purchase them?
Most Cortec EcoAir products, like the Tool & Die Rust Preventative, have a shelf life of around two years when stored properly in their original packaging, indoors, and away from direct sunlight at temperatures between 4°C and 38°C (40-100°F).

No, it's not just one product! The Cortec EcoAir range includes a variety of specialized solutions, such as the VpCI-337 for vapor corrosion inhibition, VpCI-377 for general rust prevention, VpCI-422/423 for rust removal, and BioCorr Rust Preventative. Each is formulated for specific corrosion control or maintenance needs.
• If I'm using Cortec VpCI-337 EcoAir as a fogger, how exactly do the VpCI molecules protect metal inside an enclosed space?
When you fog a void space with Cortec VpCI-337, the Vapour Phase Corrosion Inhibitor (VpCI) molecules transform into a vapor that travels and condenses on all exposed metal surfaces within that enclosed area. This creates a thin, invisible protective layer that actively prevents rust and corrosion.
• Can Cortec VpCI-337 be used to protect both ferrous and non-ferrous metals?
Yes, absolutely. Cortec VpCI-337 is designed to be highly effective for multi-metal protection, providing corrosion inhibition for a wide range of metals, including ferrous metals like steel and iron, as well as non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, copper, and plated steel.
• When using Cortec VpCI-422 EcoAir for rust removal, what's the simplest way to apply it and ensure effective results?
Using Cortec VpCI-422 for rust removal is incredibly straightforward: you simply apply the spray directly onto the rusted metal surface, allow it to work its magic for a short period, and then rinse it off with water. It truly makes rust removal a far less complicated process.
• Is there a special technique for applying EcoAir products to ensure an even coating?
For optimal results and an even coating, it's generally recommended to spray the EcoAir product onto the metal surface from a distance of 1 to 2 feet (approximately 30 to 61 cm). Aim for a thin, consistent layer rather than oversaturating the area.
