Available in in Small/Medium/Large/XL and in 500/1000 unit boxes, the TopShield® Anti Static Bags are perfect when used to prevent electro static discharge build on sensitive electronic products.
These metalised anti-static bags combine both the performance benefits of aluminium and polyethylene.
They are translucent allowing you to inspect the goods easily when being transported or stored, as well as coming with a printed esd warning label as standard.
The inclusion of TopShield® anti static technology means that not only do these esd bags provide optimal electrostatic discharge protection, but also a durability that can deal with poor handling that often occurs throughout the supply chain.
How do TopShield Anti Static Bags work?
The Faraday cage or Faraday shield is a generic reference to the effect that is created when a suitable conducting material like Polyethylene or Aluminium creates a conductive surface resistance that effectively blocks out external static build up.
As ultimately the quality of the static shielding depends greatly on the geometry of material our bags provide a ‘best in class’ product as the aluminium and polythene layers create optimal surface characteristics for the antistatic frequencies to function.
Usage
These bags are highly suited for in clean rooms, distribution centres, assembly lines and warehouses.

Frequently Asked Questions
• What exactly are TopShield Anti-Static Bags designed to do?
TopShield Anti-Static Bags are specifically engineered to prevent the buildup of electrostatic discharge (ESD) on sensitive electronic components, protecting them from damage during handling, storage, and transportation. They essentially create a safe haven for your delicate electronics.
• How do these bags manage to protect electronics from static electricity?
These clever bags utilize a multi-layered construction, typically featuring a blend of aluminum and polyethylene. This design creates what's known as a "Faraday cage" effect, which effectively blocks external static charges from reaching the sensitive items inside, safeguarding them from potential harm.
• Are TopShield bags just for static prevention, or do they offer more?
While their primary role is indeed static prevention and shielding, TopShield bags go a step further. Their robust construction also provides a good level of physical durability, helping to protect against the bumps and knocks that can occur during transit within the supply chain.
• What materials are TopShield Anti-Static Bags typically made from?
TopShield Anti-Static Bags are generally constructed from a combination of materials, most notably metallised polyethylene and aluminum layers. This unique blend contributes to their excellent electrostatic shielding capabilities and overall strength.
• Are these bags transparent, or are they opaque?
Interestingly, TopShield Anti-Static Bags have a semi-transparent or metallic, slightly translucent appearance. This allows for easier identification of the contents inside without needing to open the bag, which can be quite convenient.
Relevant products you may want to consider:
• Can I easily identify what's inside a TopShield bag without opening it?
Yes, you certainly can! Their semi-transparent nature is a real perk, allowing you to visually check the contents without compromising the ESD protection by opening the bag unnecessarily.
• Where are TopShield Anti-Static Bags most commonly used in the electronics industry?
You'll often find these bags in critical environments like clean rooms, bustling distribution centers, busy assembly lines, and vast warehouses, wherever sensitive electronic components are handled, stored, or moved.
• Can I use these bags for transporting delicate circuit boards?
Absolutely! TopShield Anti-Static Bags are highly recommended for the secure transportation of circuit boards, as they provide that essential electrostatic discharge protection crucial for such sensitive items.
• Are these bags suitable for protecting items like computer graphics cards or IC bars?
Yes, they are perfectly suited for protecting highly sensitive electronics, including valuable graphics cards and IC bars, ensuring they arrive at their destination safe from static damage.
• If I'm shipping hard drives, would TopShield bags be a good choice?
Indeed, they are an excellent choice for shipping hard drives and other components vulnerable to electrostatic discharge, offering reliable protection throughout the shipping process.
Relevant products you may want to consider:
• Can these bags be used for general electronic components beyond just circuit boards?
Definitely! TopShield Anti-Static Bags offer broad protection for a wide range of electronic components, making them a versatile solution for various electronic parts.
• Are there any other lesser-known applications for these bags?
Beyond typical electronic components, TopShield bags can also be beneficial for packaging sensitive items that require protection from both electrostatic discharge and sometimes even moisture, depending on the specific bag variant and sealing method.
• How do I properly seal a TopShield Anti-Static Bag to ensure maximum protection?
To ensure proper protection, TopShield Anti-Static Bags require a heat seal weld. For optimal results, it's recommended to use a metalised foil bag sealer set to approximately 180 degrees Celsius.
• Is it okay to reuse TopShield Anti-Static Bags?
You can absolutely reuse TopShield Anti-Static Bags, but only if they are completely undamaged. Any holes, tears, or excessive wrinkles in the bag could compromise the crucial shielding layer, rendering them ineffective.
• What should I do with a TopShield bag if it has a tear or a hole?
If a TopShield bag shows any signs of damage like tears, holes, or significant wrinkles, it's really important to discard it immediately. A damaged bag won't offer the protection your sensitive electronics need.
Relevant products you may want to consider:
• When handling items from a TopShield bag, should I be grounded?
Yes, absolutely! When removing sensitive electronic components from a TopShield bag, you should always be properly grounded using a wrist strap or heel grounders. This ensures any static charge on your person is safely dissipated.
• Can I use the TopShield bag itself as an ESD-safe work surface?
No, it's important not to use a TopShield bag as your primary ESD work surface. While they protect the items inside, they aren't designed to be a grounded working area. Always use a properly grounded ESD workbench for actual assembly or repair tasks.
• Should I place the closed TopShield bag on an ESD worksurface before opening it?
Yes, that's a smart move! Placing the closed TopShield bag on an ESD worksurface before opening it helps to eliminate any static charge that might have accumulated on the bag's exterior during storage or transport.
• What are the key benefits of using TopShield Anti-Static Bags for electronic products?
The main benefits include superior electrostatic discharge protection, enhanced durability for handling, and their semi-transparent nature for easy content identification, all contributing to safer product transit and storage.
• Do these bags provide a "Faraday cage" effect?
Yes, they do! The multi-layered construction of TopShield bags is specifically designed to create a "Faraday cage" effect, which is critical for shielding the contents from external electrostatic fields and discharges.
Relevant products you may want to consider:
• Are TopShield bags designed to be robust enough for typical shipping conditions?
They are indeed! The blend of materials used in TopShield bags provides a good level of durability, allowing them to withstand the normal rigors and occasional rough handling that can occur during shipping and distribution.
• Is there any specific warning label on these bags?
The product information suggests that these bags often don't require additional warning labels due to their inherent anti-static properties, making them quite user-friendly.
• Do TopShield bags offer flexibility in terms of packaging?
