Drop N Tell damage Indicators are ideal for use as export packaging.

Self-adhesive impact labels may be suitable for most commercial freight but they tend to not be reliable over long journeys and storage which is so often the case with export freight.

Indicators are available in 5G/10G/15G/25G/50G/100G box quantities of 100 including shipping labels.

Drop N Tell are designed to record bad handling at the point of delivery. They record shocks and impacts equal to that times the force of gravity.

They are available in a range of sensitivities.

At one end the 5G has a very sensitive activation rate. Whereas 100G requires a much greater impact to activate.

These units each contain a lock in place arrow. This snaps into position when rough handling occurs. They leave you in no doubt as to whether your goods have received an impact or not.

Many clients have bad experiences with breakages and damage costs incurred to their shipments because of rough handling. Many choose to use these shipping labels as a visual deterrent and to encourage awareness from which every freight services you work with.

Drop N Tell Indicators

The labels feature a easy attach self adhesive but are also designed to be screwed onto wood packaging.

Frequently Asked Questions

• What exactly are Valdamark Direct's Drop-N-Tell labels and how do they help with shipping?

Valdamark Direct's Drop-N-Tell labels are a clever, visual indicator system designed to alert you when a package or shipment has experienced a significant impact during transit or storage. They're essentially a deterrent against mishandling and provide clear, irreversible evidence of potential damage, helping to protect your goods.

• How do Drop-N-Tell labels physically show that an impact has occurred?

Each Drop-N-Tell label contains a specialized mechanism with a lock-in-place arrow that snaps into position and turns blue (or a similar contrasting color) when a shock or impact exceeding a pre-set 'G' force threshold occurs. This visual change makes it immediately obvious that the package has been subjected to rough handling.

• Are Drop-N-Tell labels designed for one-time use or can they be reset?

The Drop-N-Tell indicators available from Valdamark Direct are primarily designed as non-resettable, single-use devices. Once activated by an impact, the arrow locks into place, providing permanent, undeniable evidence of mishandling, which is crucial for accountability.

• What does the 'G' rating on a Drop-N-Tell label signify?

The 'G' rating on a Drop-N-Tell label, such as 5G, 10G, or 25G, refers to the force of gravity required to activate the indicator. A lower G-rating means the label is more sensitive and will activate with a lighter impact, while a higher G-rating requires a greater force to trigger it.

• Why should businesses consider using Drop-N-Tell labels for their shipments?

Businesses should consider Drop-N-Tell labels because they serve as a powerful visual deterrent against mishandling, reduce product damage, and provide immediate, undeniable evidence for freight claims. This can lead to significant cost savings from fewer damaged goods and improved customer satisfaction.

Relevant products you may want to consider:

• Where is the best place to attach a Drop-N-Tell label on a shipping carton?

For optimal performance and visibility, a Drop-N-Tell label should be affixed to a prominent, flat surface of the shipping carton where it's easily seen by handlers and recipients, often on the side or top, near the center of gravity of the package.

• Do I need any special tools or adhesives to apply Drop-N-Tell labels?

No, not at all! Drop-N-Tell labels are designed for ease of use. They feature a self-adhesive backing, so you simply peel off the liner and firmly press the label onto your package. For certain wooden crates or very heavy items, the product description mentions they can also be screwed into place for added security.

• How many Drop-N-Tell labels should I use per package?

Typically, one Drop-N-Tell indicator per package is sufficient to monitor for impacts. However, for extremely large, heavy, or unusually shaped items, or those requiring 360-degree impact detection, some users might opt for two labels placed on different sides.

• What are the companion labels that come with Drop-N-Tell indicators for?

The companion labels provided with Drop-N-Tell indicators are crucial. One is a warning label to be placed on the outside of the package, clearly stating that the shipment is being monitored by a Drop-N-Tell device. The other is for the bill of lading or shipping documents, alerting carriers and recipients to check the indicator upon arrival.

• Can Drop-N-Tell labels be used for international shipments, or are they only for domestic transit?

Drop-N-Tell labels are ideal for both domestic and international shipments. Their clear, visual indication transcends language barriers, making them universally understood and effective for monitoring freight across borders.

Relevant products you may want to consider:

• Do I need to do anything to "activate" a Drop-N-Tell label before applying it?

No pre-activation steps are typically needed for the Valdamark Direct Drop-N-Tell labels. They are designed to be ready for use straight out of the box; simply apply them, and they are armed and ready to detect impacts.

• Which G-range Drop-N-Tell label is recommended for highly sensitive items like optics or light fittings?

For extremely sensitive items such as optics, light fittings, or other shatterable materials, the Valdamark Direct website specifically recommends the 5G Drop-N-Tell label, as it is designed for items with high sensitivity and will activate with a relatively light impact.

• What Drop-N-Tell sensitivity level is suitable for delicate items like ornaments or precision parts?

Valdamark Direct advises using the 10G Drop-N-Tell label for more fragile items, which includes ornaments, precision parts, and certain medical devices, as it offers a slightly lower sensitivity than the 5G but still provides excellent protection for delicate goods.

• For shipping electronics, such as PC or server parts, which Drop-N-Tell G-range should I choose?

When shipping electronics like PC parts, server components, or other electrical fittings, the 25G Drop-N-Tell label is recommended by Valdamark Direct, offering an appropriate level of sensitivity for these types of goods.

• My shipment contains heavier, more robust freight. Is there a Drop-N-Tell label suitable for these items?

Yes, for more robust freight and heavy-duty items that can withstand some shock, Valdamark Direct suggests the 50G Drop-N-Tell label, providing monitoring for significant impacts without being overly sensitive to minor jolts.

Relevant products you may want to consider:

• For very large machinery or bulk goods, which Drop-N-Tell label would be most appropriate?

For exceptionally heavy-duty shipments, including large machinery removals and bulk goods, the 100G Drop-N-Tell label is advised by Valdamark Direct, as it requires a much greater impact to activate, ensuring only severe mishandling is indicated.

• Can Drop-N-Tell labels be used to monitor internal package integrity, or only external impacts?

Drop-N-Tell labels are primarily designed to indicate external impacts to the package itself. While they won't tell you about internal shifts of contents without an external impact, their activation signals that the package has been dropped or severely mishandled, which in turn suggests internal damage is likely.

• Are Drop-N-Tell labels affected by extreme temperatures during transit?

While the Valdamark Direct product page doesn't specify an exact operational temperature range, generally, impact indicators like Drop-N-Tell are designed to function reliably across typical shipping temperatures. For extreme temperature fluctuations, it's always best to consult the full technical specifications or contact Valdamark Direct directly.

• What is the typical shelf life of an unused Drop-N-Tell indicator?

According to general information about Drop-N-Tell products, the indicator mechanism itself typically has an unlimited shelf life, while the adhesive backing usually maintains its effectiveness for around 4 years when stored correctly.

• Is there any risk of false positives with Drop-N-Tell labels, where they activate without a genuine impact?

Drop-N-Tell labels are engineered to minimize false positives. The specific G-force activation ensures they only trigger when a significant shock occurs. Proper application and selection of the correct G-range for your goods help prevent unnecessary activations.

Relevant products you may want to consider:

• Can I use Drop-N-Tell labels to determine the exact direction of an impact?

The Drop-N-Tell labels feature a unique bi-directional arrow, which means they not only show if an impact occurred but also indicate the direction of the impact, such as from the top, bottom, or sides of the package.

• Are Drop-N-Tell labels resistant to tampering once applied?

Yes, once a Drop-N-Tell label has been activated, its internal mechanism locks into place, making it impossible to mistakenly reset or easily tamper with, ensuring the integrity of the impact indication.

• How do Drop-N-Tell labels assist with freight claims?

Drop-N-Tell labels provide immediate, undeniable visual evidence of mishandling, which is incredibly valuable when filing freight claims. If the indicator is activated upon delivery, it strongly suggests that the damage occurred during transit, making the claims process much smoother and more likely to succeed.

• Do I need to educate my shipping carriers about Drop-N-Tell labels?

While not strictly necessary, informing your shipping carriers about your use of Drop-N-Tell labels, and prominently displaying the accompanying warning labels, can serve as a powerful deterrent. Knowing that their handling is being monitored often encourages greater care and reduces the likelihood of mishandling.

• What should the recipient do if a Drop-N-Tell label is activated upon delivery?

If a Drop-N-Tell label is activated upon delivery, the recipient should immediately note the activated indicator on the delivery receipt or bill of lading before signing. They should then thoroughly inspect the contents for damage and promptly report any issues to the shipper and carrier, referencing the activated indicator.

Relevant products you may want to consider:

• Can Drop-N-Tell labels help improve accountability within my supply chain?

Absolutely. By providing clear evidence of mishandling, Drop-N-Tell labels foster a culture of accountability throughout the supply chain. Carriers and handlers are more likely to exercise greater care when they know their actions are being monitored, leading to overall improvements in handling practices.

• What quantities are Valdamark Direct's Drop-N-Tell labels available in?

Valdamark Direct typically supplies Drop-N-Tell damage indicators in box quantities of 100 units, which include the necessary shipping labels to complete the monitoring system.

• Does Valdamark Direct offer different G-ranges for Drop-N-Tell labels?
