Atlantic Packaging Products Ltd. (‘Atlantic’) recently declared the acquisition of Skybox Packaging in Mansfield, Ohio.
Atlantic Packaging Products LTD., headquartered in Canada, is one of the leading producers of paper, plastic, and metal packaging products. The company operates dozens of facilities across North America and employs over 4,000 people. It offers a range of quality products that are used by some of the world’s largest companies, including Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, and Nestle. Atlantic Packaging is committed to sustainable practices and has been recognised as one of the top recyclers in North America. The company has also been named one of the Best Managed Companies in Canada for several years running. Atlantic Packaging is a publicly traded company on the Toronto Stock Exchange and has a market capitalisation of over $2 billion. The acquisition of Skybox Packaging by Atlantic will allow it to expand its product line and customer base. With operations in both Canada and Ohio, this acquisition will continue to strengthen Atlantic’s position in the US market while adding power to its already strong converting capabilities.
Skybox packaging provides its clients with a service-focused model, with package solutions that feature extremely short lead times. The company’s business model is a combination of advanced logistics and directory management programs along with custom-made non-corrugated and corrugated packaging solutions. The consumers of Skybox products are various popular brands from the food, industrial and customer end markets.
Atlantic’s Business Set to Improve with Acquisition of Skybox Packaging
According to Dave Boles, President of Atlantic Packaging, Skybox shares many core values of Atlantic. He said the acquisition was an initial investment to enhance the production platform of Atlantic in Mansfield, Ohio and with such a great location, geographically, it will help to develop the business due to its proximity to various key target markets. Boles added further that under the guidance of Marty Rice, Marc Miller, and other Skybox team members, Atlantic is assured of experiencing success that will deliver growth and generate jobs as well. Marc Miller, President of Skybox, joined hands with Marty Rice last year to search for an associate who shares their goal, brings new capabilities to the table, and has an entrepreneurial culture.
The leadership team of Skybox decided that the associate company should have a future development plan that considers Skybox’s location and organisation as its foundation. Atlantic ticked all these requirements of Skybox packaging, which paved the way for this acquisition.
Miller said they are extremely proud and excited about the company’s future and that joining hands with Atlantic as a partner to develop their strategic plan was something they are looking forward to. He summed up the mood by saying this acquisition was a good day for Skybox as they have partnered with builders, and it was even bigger news for the Mansfield area.
The acquisition will be mutually beneficial for both businesses and increase the range, supply, size, and value proposition to their customers. The transition will no doubt accelerate sales and process plans and will ensure an advantage for Atlantic in their markets.
What is Corrugated and Container board Packaging?
Corrugated packaging is made from corrugated paperboard, which is a type of paper that consists of two or more layers of paper that are glued or bonded together. The inner layer of the corrugated paperboard is called the liner board, while the outer layer is called the medium. Corrugated packaging is sustainable packaging that is often used for shipping and handling heavy or fragile items in the form of boxes or containers.
Container board packaging is made from a type of paperboard that is thicker and stiffer than liner board. The container board consists of one or more layers of liner board that are glued or bonded together. The outer layer of the container board is called the facing, while the inner layer is called the core. Container board packaging is often used for food packaging and beverage containers, as well as for industrial applications.
Both items are quality sustainable packaging and one of the many benefits is that they are widely recycled by customers that they supply.
