The Types of Pharmaceutical Packaging

The packaging of pharmaceuticals products is a major part of the overall drug development process.  The packaging protects the integrity of the product and makes sure that the products are delivered and stored safely.

Pharmaceutical packaging includes items such as bottles, vials, boxes, ampoules, bags, blister packs, and cartridges.  Each different type of drug packaging has its own advantages and disadvantage, so it is important to use the right packaging for pharmaceutical products.  Normally bottles are used for liquids and powders, while vials are used for injectables.  Ampoules are used for more sensitive products that require aseptic conditions, whilst bags and blister packs are often used for tablets.

Pharmaceutical packaging has developed a lot in recent times and now there are special machines and technology that make innovation of new products and packing processes smoother so the manufacturing of products to the delivery to pharmacy stores and the consumer is quicker.
