So why did DS Smith acquire corrugated packaging?

Corrugated Packaging, Most Environmentally Friendly Solution

One of the most popular sustainable packaging materials on the market today is corrugated cardboard. Corrugated packaging is made from paperboard that is laminated with one or more layers of fluted paper. This combination makes it strong and lightweight, as well as easy to recycle. Over 90% of corrugated packaging is recycled each year.

In addition to being environmentally friendly, corrugated packaging is also an excellent choice for product protection. It has high tear resistance and cushioning properties, making it ideal for shipping fragile items. And because it can be custom-made to almost any shape or size, it can be used for a wide range of products.

Industrial PackagingSustainable Alternative for Industrial Packaging

Corrugated cardboard is an increasingly popular choice for industrial packaging, due to its sustainability and recyclability. Corrugated cardboard is completely recyclable, making it a more eco-friendly material to use for packaging than other types.

In addition, corrugated cardboard is one of the most recycled materials in the world, meaning anyone can reuse it multiple times. Because of this, it is a great option for packaging that adheres to the circular economy’s guiding principles.

The lightweight nature of corrugated packing makes transporting things simpler and more effective. It reduces the environmental impact of transportation, as well as the overall cost. As a result, corrugated cardboard is a more sustainable and cost-effective option for industrial packaging.

Design Phase

During the design phase of corrugated packaging, it is important to remember how the packaging impacts the environment. So, DS Smith Tecnicarton uses  Circular Design Principles and Metrics to create sustainable designs.

With these tools, the company has created innovative designs. These designs address safety and robustness needs while also reducing environmental impact. By using the company’s Circular Design Principles, DS created packaging that is not only safe and reliable but also sustainable.

Also, DS Smith can assess the environmental impact of its packaging and make sure that they protect the planet by using its design principles. By using these tools, we can create packaging that is both safe and sustainable.

10 years after the Acquisition

Ten years ago, DS Smith made a historic acquisition, acquiring Grupo Lantero, a leading manufacturer of corrugated cardboard boxes. The acquisition instantly made DS Smith one of the largest manufacturers of corrugated cardboard in the world. But what happened after the acquisition?

The first few years were spent integrating the two companies and streamlining production. This process has its challenges, but eventually, the two companies work together seamlessly. The next few years were spent expanding the company’s reach, and opening new plants and warehouses around the world. Today, DS Smith is a truly global company, with a presence in over 40 countries.

But the story doesn’t end there. In the past few years, DS Smith has been focused on innovating its product line and investing in new technology and processes that will help it stay ahead of the competition. As a result, today DS Smith is stronger than ever before and is poised for continued success in the years to come.
